Flexible working requests

Hi, has anybody had recent experience of requesting flexible working hours since the laws and guidelines changed in Dec 2022?
__
I know as the employee, we no longer have to state how the requested hours will affect the business etc. I already work part time but I'm looking to change my days of work after having a second child.
__
My role was never actually covered when I went on maternity leave so I'm assuming the company can't say my hours cannot be undertaken by another employee?
__
Any pointers for a successful application gratefully received!

If it is just swapping days I.e. Tuesday to Thursday then it’s a fairly simple request. Just state you currently work abc and from 1 April would like to work xyz. Say you are happy to discuss and, even though you don’t have to, I would add in that swapping days wouldn’t affect the business/colleagues.

I always thought the requirement to think about the business/colleagues was a good part of the legislation.

I can’t see that the change has been made on this yet? Seems to just be a press release so far.

They haven't come into force yet, I think the earliest we're likely to see them in force is Autumn 2023.
