Likelihood of getting new job

I have applied for a new job in a field in which I have no experience. This in itself shouldn't be an issue (I have 2 relatives who work there, one of whom does basically the role I've applied for).

My issue is, i have heard someone who used to work for the company in the same role has applied... what is the likelihood i stand a chance at getting the job?

I know nobody "knows", but wanted opinions from neutral people.

I wondered if the fact they left this role and are reapplying a year or so later would actually be a bad thing? Where they wouldn't need the same training, they are potentially unreliable and likely to move on again.
