Waiting to hear back after final interview

Had an interview a few weeks ago, and a second one for the same application last Thursday ie 6 days ago. Was told they are also interviewing on Friday last week and that I should hear earlyish this week. The company is in the US and the recruiter is in the U.K. so they can probably only catch up in the afternoons given the time difference. No fixed salary, it’d be negotiated. I’m doing my head in refreshing my phone to see if there’s an update. Any recruiters around with an idea of what needs to be pulled together before they tell the winning candidate / anyone around to offer moral support? Am twitchy as can be but trying to keep busy, which included writing this. I hate the uncertainty and I would like the job.

I am like this -is there any project you can busy yourself with?

I think the wait is worst when it's been a couple of weeks and you've a fairly woolly understanding of the likely timescale - you have my sympathy!

I had this with my job, I was told they'd let me know on the Tuesday the following week. I spent all of the Tuesday checking emails and in the end decided I obviously didn't get the job, 5pm came and I looked at my emails to find an email saying they hadn't forgotten me but the HR person they needed was off and they had to speak to them. So I had to wait even longer.

I think it was the next day I got a call to say I got the job. Turns out they needed to speak to HR about my salary.

So anything could be holding it up, its half term so the recruiter could be holiday or sick or they need to confirm a few things.

Thank you for your responses everyone. I had an email to say I’m through to the next round, so have more interviews next week. It wasn’t clear before that there were more rounds (it’d been implied there weren’t). Pleased to still be in the running, but back into a holding pattern I guess after interviews! And gardening etc to take the mind off it. Thanks for the support, it helps. x
