Can anyone tell me about modern apprenticeships?

I will be ringing connexions tomorrow - but an aquaintance has asked about me training her son in childcare

He seems a nice enough lad & relates well with the children (not sure how he will do working with a bunch of middleaged women)

But how/what do I do?

Can I get any help with his training etc?

I really don't know anything about them I'm afraid - never had them anywhere I've worked. I'm sure Connexions will be able to help you.

Never mind - I had in my brain (prehaps falsly) that I could get money from the gov for employeinhg a youngster (greedy cow that I am)
