Hi all,

next week I have a band 4 PA interview.
I had one yesterday and didn’t get the job but they were very impressed. Someone with more PA experience got the job.
With this one there is a skills test, I asked what is involved they said it is a Microsoft office test.
Does anyone know what will be involved please? I use all of them in my current band 3 role but don’t use sums or graphs much in Excel so feel worried!
Anyone know what it will be please?

thank you :)

My experience is that tests vary a lot for Band 4 interviews, some being simple and others quite complex so it is hard to know in advance. Most places won't worry if you don't know everything about Excel as long as you demonstrate a good general knowledge of Microsoft office. How good the other candidates are makes a difference which you cannot control. Also, as long as you meet the person spec, how you do in the interview will be more important.
Can you spend a bit of time self teaching in Excel to give you more confidence?
Good luck.

Hi,

thank you :)
I will give it my all at the interview and think I will attempt to learn some further basics in excel to help with anything that may come up. Never done a test in an interview before!! It’s also a teams interview which I haven’t ever experienced. Not sure whether it’s a positive or not.

thanks
Lauren

Nervous for tomorrow every, I really want the job.
I have revised most questions, just hope I don't get a blank memory lol. Also looked up excel and pivot tables for the skills test. Any typing or lettering etc I am m fine with.

Wish me some luck!!

Wishing you all the luck for tomorrow. Please do come by and let us know how the interview went and the test. Hopefully it's just a case of table formatting, page numbers, using autosum etc. I am sure you're a wizz at it all. Good luck! 👍

Hi guys,

so I was told today that I got the job.. I’m very shocked actually. Had lots of candidates.
so it’s band 4 I’m currently a 3. But it is 30 hours so works out about the same a month.. but means I can give a little extra time to the kids and family etc. I do loads of over time as a band 3 so going to have to get used to the deduction… can’t be a work a holic my kids need me🤣

the test - was 3 tasks, excel to create a chart with info provided.
word - set up letter with info corrected
watch a video and minute take from it

all pretty straight forward tbh!

Ah well done that's brilliant!! Do you do minute taking at the moment? how do you find it, I'd love to hear your experiences. Did you have experience on how to do a chart in excel before? Sorry, lots of questions but well done that's lovely news 😀 x
