I started in my role 5 months ago, this was a much needed step up, but 5 months in I am largely not doing the role I should be and feel that I have been recruited at least 12 months early as there isn't the flow of work/projects expected for many reasons. I am doing a lot of general admin but also trying to forward think to what we will need in terms of processes/systems/policies etc when things do pick up. Some of the other staff in post are very territorial and have fallen in to silo working. I am looking at this as an opportunity to learn but it is also frustrating times. My LM is aware and very supportive and has said that there are some similar roles coming up in the same dept that I could apply for, if I feel that it would be better for me. On the one hand I want to give this a fair crack and don't want to upset the apple cart but on the other hand, I feel that I am already horizon scanning, but just not sure moving to a similar role, but with a different remit in the same dept is the right answer. Any words of wisdom or similar experiences?
