A conflicting interview request

I've been offered an interview in a couple of weeks time, and they've asked that I bring a copy of a report that I have written in relation to my career field.

I feel a tad uneasy about this, as everything I've reported on in the past contains quite sensitive information, such as KPI data, staff, the business functions etc. There isn't any customer information on the reports - so no risk of a personal data breach.

Would I be out of order by questioning this? I am really keen on the job, but equally don't want to breach anything and risk exposing a former business.

No I think you would be showing integrity by questioning it. Can you use a report but redact the sensitive info?

LightSpeeds · 27/01/2023 22:45

Are they competitors?

Newjobformoremoney · 27/01/2023 22:47

Totally inappropriate. Sorry. If it’s not in the public domain it would be super unethical to take it.

Regardless of customer info, surely sharing other staff info, KPI data and business functions is a massive breach in itself??? Was your report internal only? How is the other company aware it even exists?

inwiththerosemary · 27/01/2023 22:53

It's not staff personal information just team functions. But yes it feels completely unethical hence why I'm questioning it as I've never been asked this before and it's threw me off. I kinda feel like it's a trick question, well I bloody hope it is!

They don't know it exists, they have just requested that I bring a report that I have written in my field, as I'm guessing they want to look at competency of written work. These are the only non customer reports I have, as any others are customer related.

No they aren't competitors, different area, customer base.

What time of report is it, could you provide dummy data?

What time of report is it, could you provide dummy data?

It's along the lines of an input output report, detailing risks, challenges, successful awards, attained customer targets.
