Question about advertised job

Hello,

The company I have worked for a short time put an email round to advertise a .5 role opening up at some point.

I may be completely clueless, but even after using Google, I cannot fathom how many hours a .5 position is.

Is anyone able to enlighten me?

It's half the hours of a full time job (so half of 37.5 hours or 40 or whatever's standard at your place).

I agree.

I think... 😂

It's half of whatever the full time contracted hours are. So if your workplace contracts full timers on a 40hr week, the job is 20hrs a week.

Thank you all for such swift and helpful responses. I really appreciate it.

The working pattern could be five short days or two and a half days, for example.

WomanFromTheNorth · 27/01/2023 18:52

I've worked 0.5. It was 3 days one week and 2 days the week after.

1 is the number of hours a full time person works there. 0.5 is half that so usually 37.5 and 18.75 or 40 and 20. Salary is pro rata as well as annual leave. I have a 0.5 person working in my time and they work three shorter days.
