Hi All,

Wondering if anyone can advise me..

I'm looking to start a teaching assistant course alongside a voluntary place in a school. Years ago I completed level 2 and 3 NVQs in childcare, and have all A-C GCSEs.

A friend (previously a teacher) advised that I could probably just jump straight to level 2, does this sound right?

Also, could anyone please tell me which of the millions of courses advertised online actually produce a recognised qualification?

Thanks x

I think I actually jumped straight to level 3. I was like you with qualifications. It's only a year course too. It's great and pretty easy to do.

Level 3. You need to look for accreditation.

To be honest with NVQs in childcare you don't really need to do a TA course. I'm a TA and you could easily get a level 3 TA job with the qualifications you already have.

But if you want to do it anyway, yes jump straight in at level 2 or 3. Level 1 is for people starting at the very beginning, often those who have no qualifications of any kind.

Ah brill, thanks guys. I'll start looking at level 3.

Thanks for replying x
