To transfer to W Australia police

Has anyone transferred later in their careers?
Both DH and I are Officers and have nearly 20 years in each.
WA police are taking transfers but only allowing you to transfer 6 years experience.
We are contemplating for the way of life but does anyone know how the pension transfer over?
Will we be better of short term but worse off long term or at retirement?

When I was living in WA a few years back a neighbour of mine was a UK cop who had transferred. I believe he was about 5 years in Uk side.

Obviously ‘mate talk’ but he wasn’t at all happy with the culture difference out there compared to the Uk. In fact after 4 years they were planning to move back. He described it as confrontational policing and it wasn’t a style he was comfortable with.

If you decide to go take a long look at property prices and cost of living. When I left a few years back it was incredibly unaffordable in the Perth environs.

Thanks for the posts. It's a lot to think about. My sister lives just south of Fremantle so we have been out to visit a few times. I know it rather expensive compared to the U.K. We done our sums ref housing, wages and living expenses. It's just the pensions we can't work out as we have many years built up in the U.K.
