PTS course - railway jobs

My husband is going on PTS course funded my Universal Credit

Had to claim this month as husband lost his job at Xmas

Honestly thought he would find another one by now. Applied for hundreds and not even an interview

He's done BDM sales manager previously and last 15 yrs project management but because he's done a large portion of self employment it puts a lot of employers off ! Even though he's been paye since nov 21 - present

Anyway railway industry is something he's never done - so the course is around 6k and funded and can lead to interviews so we thought why not

How realistic is it that he could get a job ?

He really doesn't want to do nights ( he's 47 has done nights before and ideally wants normal hours ) we have 2 kids, ones a baby and it's hard doing shift work. We did it when we had our first

Anyway are nights just part of working on the rail ?

Thanks in advance

He might have to yes, depending on the job. If he’s doing PTS then I assume he’s after a maintenance type role? A lot of maintenance work does take place at night, necessarily because there are trains running during the day! But it’s not all night shifts and not necessarily permanent nights. It really depends on the job, but being realistic, if it’s maintenance of some sort then there are likely to be nights involved.
