Called by UK HR Director and "suggested" I apply - thought I'd be good. Did a good sales pitch on the role.
Asked by local HR Manager if I was applying and response was I'm glad when I said yes.
Interviewed for the role last weds. Advised timeline was decision early this week.
"Feedback meeting" put into calendar for 4pm tomorrow late this pm.
There's literally no chance I've got it is there - leaving it as late as possible within the timeframe for the bad news.
😭😭😭
I really want it...(now) coz my new boss in current role is a pita and I must have messed it up 😭😭😭😭😭

Any HR folk out there to tell me it's not a lost cause??

So they said decision early this week and they've put in a meeting for Tuesday afternoon?

Sounds OK to me.

Jobs are usually offered to the winning candidate after the unsuccessful candidates have been told they haven't got it. Might be a good sign.

What happened at your 4pm meeting OP???? Either way, very disconcerting!

Not in my industry! We offer the winning candidate first just in case they say no which has happened a fair few times recently. My current new team member was third choice as first two said no despite applying and interviewing. We were fortunate we had 3 suitable candidates from the 4 that interviewed. To be fair the roles are highly pressured (stressed in the interview for honesty and transparency) and low paid (national pay scale so no room for movement).

I hope you got some unexpected good news @MissingOut and are busy celebrating right now!

Thanks all - it seems my pessimism was misplaced. I was offered the role! HR business partner thought it was hilarious that there had been any strategy to it.
