I’m your typical Generation X, PA office worker with loads of experience but also worked as legal sec for about 8 years and don’t do that now.

Am in a contract and my boss after having a chat before I started said he could see I wasn’t an IT natural. Things have moved so fast in recent years especially with Outlook, teams, one note etc so it can be hard to keep up!

So my question here is what’s the easiest way to keep up to speed with IT packages? Maybe a short course? I learn and pick up IT packages really quickly - legal databases in under 2 years. I admit I’m not great with social media stuff but only use Instagram now anyway!

I'm a Gen X PA. I think your manager needs to narrow down what area you need to work on, and it depends what your office actually uses. There's not much point learning all about Teams if you use Zoom.

I think I'm pretty up to date but only learn things when I need to use them, and just google how to use it if it's something reasonably simple (Slack, google drive, something new on PowerPoint or zoom). For something more complicated like data visualisation (Tableau) I had to do a lot of reading, watching YouTube videos and googling but never got very good at it, it was harder than I thought.
