Hi all, I recently started a job around 5 months ago however I am finding it very boring, after several conversations with managers nothing seems to have changed.

I have been offered a job with the local council in customer services , 4 days ok the phone and 1 day manning the busy reception desk.

Pay is better, no working from home but that won’t bother.

Has anyone worked for the council before in a similar role?

thanks

I work for a council, but not in this kind of role although I do see quite a lot of these people. You won't find it boring! My one warning would be that you need to be resilient. There are lots of lovely people out there who you can help. But... there are some real nasty ones too. The council is responsible for everything, especially the stuff they don't like. Whether or not the council runs the service! You need to be able to remain calm, be pleasant, and smile, no matter how big a tosser you are dealing with.

Customer service is good entry level experience if you are looking to progress. The skills and experience you'll gain are transferable to lots of roles. Be sure to take advantage of any and all free training on offer - most councils have loads of online packages.
