Good evening,

A question please, I have to hand my notice in at work and my contract states 'one month's prior notice'. I understand a month (assuming calendar) notice but what does the prior notice refer to? Feeling very...foggy over this. Blame the menopause!! Thank you.

Just checked again it is calendar month 'to end your employment it shall be one calendar month’s prior
written notice' Still unsure what one calendar month prior notice is 😄...I obviously understand the written bit 😄

So if you want to leave on February 14th you give your notice by January 14th. In writing.

Thank you. I only work 3 days (12 hour shifts on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday). If I hand in my notice on Jan 16th this means my last working day will be the 15th (which is a Wednesday). Would that matter?

Speak to your HR. You may have holiday you haven’t taken, in which case your last day would be earlier (or you could be paid this holiday in lieu).
