Hi all, seen the below job advertised (I have seen another similar job that I am interested in). What do you think to it? Can anyone else share their experiences in a similar role? I am looking for a job change. I have been working in the NHS for the last 7 years as IT Support/Care Cooridnator.

-Customer Service Advisor for the council
“We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Customer Services Advisor who will be working as part of a team responsible for providing first point of contact resolution to customers through all our access channels.

An ability to empathize, understand and listen to a wide range of enquiries is essential to ensure we continue to achieve the highest standards our customers should expect and deserve.

You will be working with a small friendly team with an agile working policy, a commitment to employee welfare and the potential for flexible working.

If you feel you have the skills required for this role and are looking for a new challenge, please get in touch!”

Thank you in advance

That's taking phone calls from people and putting them through to depts, offering advice etc with you and the team as the first point of contact (so very varied, often dealing with pissed off people but no two days ever the same).

Yes, you might need resilience because you'll get people phoning who are shouty and unreasonable alongside, probably, many routine and boring enquiries, but if you like talking to people and get satisfaction from resolving issues, you'll probably enjoy it.

Team camaraderie in that sort of role is usually very strong. Also a foot in the door with the council - you'll get experience of lots of areas as a general first point of contact - so could be a good grounding for roles in other areas and promotion.

I dont do this job but do work for a council. In that role you have to haveca good knowledge of ALL areas the council covers and deal with shouty customers. The team where I work have very tight targets to work to. Easy to move into more specialised departments though.
