Scared of being sacked due to sickness

I started a new job at the end of September so have been there almost 4 months. I had to take a sick day about a month ago as I had tonsillitis. I work from home and although still felt ill, I felt well enough to work after a day so only took the Monday off.

Over the weekend, I contracted a horrible stomach bug and have had sickness and diarrhoea so have had to take another 2 days off sick. I am so anxious that I'm going to get in to trouble for taking that many sick days in a short space of time, but I have been genuinely ill on both occasions (although no evidence.) Can I be let go for this?

You can if you are on probation.

You can, yes I'm afraid. The only thing you can really do though after the event is talk to your manager and apologise.

How long is your probation period? I'd maybe expect probation to be extended because of your level of sickness. What's your employer's sickness absence policy like?

You can whether or not you're on probation. Until you have been employed for two years you are unable to bring a claim of unfair dismissal.

You have been there 2 1/2 months if you started end of September.

I wouldn't say anything to your manager. Its just bad luck. If they bring it up then explain but other than that I'd just leave alone.

They can let you know within your probation period for pretty much no reason I'm afraid .
If you are unwell then you are unwell so what can you do .
