need employment history from HMRC

…but it seems impossible.

I’ve been offered a job at an airport but I have to go though a 5 year work history check. I’ve been self employed rather than employed and I did my own taxes so I can’t put an accountant as reference.
on the form it says to contact HMRC in this case.
I can’t find this in my personal tax account or my business tax account and when I tried calling the HMRC today several times I kept getting cut off and the one person I spoke to had no idea but said for employed people they would print out 5 years history but since I’ve not been employed she has no record of me.

Does anyone know which department deals with this please?

I haven’t attempted to do it, but can you not print out five years of self assessment returns?

There is a place which does the tax you have paid each year. I used this to show my employment dates for something I required proof for.

By ‘place’ I mean a part of HMRC online.
