I am wondering if any of you have had a career change in your 40's?
I have been a social worker for over 20 years and although I have enjoyed alot of my career it has also taken its toll. I think over that time I've worked in most areas of childrens services and also worked in quite specialised roles setting up different projects etc.
I feel really lucky that I've been able to step away and have just started a 6 month break to have a bit more time for my family and myself (that feels weird even typing that) and really work out what I want to do for the remaining 20 years of my working life. I think I will still want to work in an organisation that supports individuals or communities. Im thinking maybe the charity sector? Or maybe something totally different. Just not really sure what that might look like at the moment
So if you have retrained or had a career change, what did you end up doing and how did you figure out what you wanted to do? Or if you work in the charity sector could you share your experience?
Any experiences or advice appreciated. Thanks
