Help me leave marketing and digital marketing

Please help me leave marketing and digital marketing.

I've been doing it for 16 years - I'm now 36 and I absolutely hate it. It just feels so fake and pointless (especially the social media side!)

I'd love a new career. That's interesting and worthwhile.

But what transferable skills can marketing provide? It's all just fluffy bollocks. Feeling so low and dreary about the whole thing.

My degree was in business studies but I graduated on 2008.

I live in Cornwall and jobs are just shit here. 😆 not finding much on LinkedIn either.

What sector do you work in? Have you been at the same place for a long time? Marketing is a broad discipline so transferring to something like the not-for-profit sector might help?

Yeh I'm in a similar boat. Its quite difficult to recommend things as we don't know anything about what you like or your skills. However, if you have worked in marketing you could go more into copywriting or SEO if you like more tech stuff, or if you like designing you could try out UX. It's so hard to retrain when you get older and all living costs go up so I feel you pain OP

I read your post and know exactly what you mean! A friend of mine has been saying this for some time. I hardly go on it thankfully. I know I'm a bit late coming to the party, but do you have any other skill sets that you can start learning about whilst doing that job? Or maybe get work in a retail environment, although saying that everything is online these days. 🙄
