Help I've Handed My Notice In!!!

Not sure what I am looking for here - just someone to share my predicament with I guess! I have worked for the same company for 13 years (media company) and last week gave my notice in after realising once and for all that my job is really not family friendly. Whilst I need (and want) to work I do want a job that I can leave at a reasonable hour without having to worry about repercussions. Added to all of this is the fact that my boss is hideously disrespectful and I've reached the end of my tether trying to please her - So that's the rant bit over Anyway, I've agreed to work on a project until the start of March after which I'm off. I feel enpowered at having made this decision but now I'm starting to panic about finding more work. My husband supports my decision and we've savings that we can dip into for a while but long term I do need to fnd a job and having been at the same company for so long the very thought of having to sell myself intimidates me. Any of you out there with ideas for jobs suitable for ex TV production staff ???!!! All suggestions gratefully accepted. Thanks xx

No suggestions, but thought I would bump it for you. You have my sympathies, in a similar situation myself, currently on ml, don't think I want to go back for the same reasons as you, but not sure I what I would do. I've got until June to decide though.

I did same thing in November, and am/was in TV as well (distribution). Not very family friendly industry, is it? My last day at work is Thursday next week. I've met a few p/t production managers - more office-based rather than on set. Could you do something like that? If so I guess it's just a matter of working through the PACT directory to find companies that need one... Do you want to stay in TV? (I don't so am in some ways the worst person to advise you!)

I wasn't in such a good job as you - but I was due back at the start of next week (Monday the 28th) but handed my notice in........as yet haven't found anything but need to work.

Job I've just left is the only job I've had since getting married (got married in 1999!) and was in it for just over 2yrs........the work I did before that (pre-1999) I didn't really "apply" or have "interviews" for it.....so am completely petrified and feeling completely out of my depth looking for some other "unskilled" work.

Thanks for all your messages of support! At the risk of sounding very selfish - it's so reassuring to know you aren't the only one! I used to be a bit of a career girl but quite honestly those days are gone gone gone. If I could win the lottery and hang out at home full time I'd be leaping with joy. In the unlikely event of that happening I'll keep scratching my head and searching for something else. Good luck to all of you too - we've all got the guts to change things so here's to wonderful things being around the corner P.s thebecster I am soooooo over TV too

I'm in a similar boat at the moment.
Working as a Home Carer at the moment and i do evenings and Saturday work.
Whilst i love the work itself and the clients i'm really starting to not be comfortable with the driving at night and having to walk around "rough" areas at night.
Saturdays are hard as well as especially on a Friday shift i don't see my kids from 6pm in the evening until 7pm the next day! as i'm out when they go to bed and i'm out of the house at 6am.
My husband is really not happy with me working these hours and wants me to quit.
I'm starting to agree with him, but i'm going to be so upset at not seing the clients again, as you do get attached to them.
But the company is doing my head in and lots of other girls are thinking of leaving soon.
I'm lucky enough to be able to manage without this income as it's my second job.
Main job is doing admin and web searches for my husband's business, but i just love helping in the community.
We're going on holiday for 3 weeks anyway and i'll hand in my notice just before i leave, so they can you that time to "work" my notice.
Basically, i'm not coming back.
