Job interview- big promotion and getting ‘the fear’

Hello 😀. I’m looking for some tips and words of wisdom.

I’ve made it to the final interview stage for a job that would be a massive pay increase and promoted post. It is an area I have worked in and do know a lot about.

This morning I’ve woken up with the total fear- suddenly feel like a total chancer, can’t focus on prep at all and procrastinating. I need to prepare a short presentation and my mind is just blank. I am also worried about being ‘the boss’ of other Heads of Dept. Though I do have many years management experience, this would be managing multiple teams across various specialist areas.

I would love this job but worried about self sabotage…….help anyone?

I've just been through exactly this including a presentation in front of a panel and felt all those feelings too (and still do even though I got the job!!) It's a huge cliche but you can only do your best, don't overthink/ second guess yourself. The fact is you want it and you have lots of knowledge and experience of the role. Do what you can for the presentation but don't panic - your enthusiasm will speak volumes! And when you get the job (👍🥂👏) don't expect to feel like you deserve it - because I still don't 😆😬🤔 Good luck!!!!

Congratulations on getting the role Wren! Sorry you feel the same, but also good to hear so that it can normalise the feelings 😆👍💕
