Can I retract application to go from part time to full time

Advice needed please.

I've put in a request to go from 25 hours a week to 35 (FT) and it's been accepted. I'm due to start new hours at the beginning of September but I'm massively regretting it. I think (need to check) that it's subject to a three months' trial but I don't think it's going to work - mainly due to childcare issues. It's my fault, I didn't think it through properly and my decision was driven purely because of the extra money (which won't be much as UC will reduce and I'll need to pay for after school care).

What do I do? Do I give it a go and work the three months or should I be telling my employer now? I wrote a good business case for having my hours increased in the first place so feel terrible/stupid that I want to retract.

Please can I have some practical solutions? I know I've messed up so don't need to be told that. Thank you.

If you are sure that you can't make it work because you didn't look at the extra expense of childcare and UC reduction I would have an honest conversation with my manager asap to see if they would be happy to not go ahead. You may find they would be happy to as it would reduce their costs.

How much more are coming out with?
How much of that will be on childcare?

Universal credit pay up to 85% of childcare so that will help. How old are your children?

Sorry for late message and thanks to those who replied.

I decided to bite the bullet and speak to my manager about how I was feeling and we've agreed I'll stay on my part time hours for now - they were fine about it and more importantly, I feel so relieved and it's a weight off my mind. I feel a bit embarrassed about it all but I'll just have to suck it up and no real harm has been done.
