Accepted job offer but no contract yet - schools in Wales

I was called by the Head offering me a L3 TA position at the end of last term. The office sent me a form for new starters to get me on payroll and I asked about a letter or a contract. I think she said I'd receive one from the LA but I'm not sure and obviously school is closed for the summer.
I have start on the 2nd but still don't know exactly what my salary and holiday entitlements will be.
It's a state primary so does anyone know when/ from where I should receive it?
I've never worked without some kind of contract in place or at least an offer letter and I'm a bit worried about starting without them.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for a contract! I’ve done teaching jobs in the past when contracts didn’t arrive until the job ended, after maybe a term. Your spoken word and their written offer are legally binding. Annoying once when transferring from regular supply to a contract with the same local authority and I wasn’t paid for 6 weeks. I was overdrawn and very stressed but my union advised that if I just walked out I could end up being blacklisted. It was sorted after I spoke to the head, but I was initially passed from local authority to head’s secretary with both assuring me it wasn’t a fault at their end. It didn’t help that I hated that particular job!

Thanks Ginger. I'm moving from agency to contract too. I really hope they pay me at the end of September as no income since July. I've emailed HR now so maybe they'll be able to help. A simple letter stating my salary and holiday entitlement would have been OK.

I also have never had a teaching contract until several months after I've started the role. When I questioned it with one LA, I was told they were 'concentrating on paying everyone' as thought I was most unreasonable for asking.

Wow, really Oi?! I think I've always had a contract/LOE as a TA and in my other work. If your wages were wrong for example, or they don't pay you any holidays/ sick pay, what do you have to fall back on?

I called the council before and they said they'd ask payroll to chack and get back to me. They've just emailed back and said they've got nothing for me there.😦
