sorry - need help!

would you look at local papers, or online, and if online, where?

Hola!!!

Cuanto tiempo!!! que tal??? (Ch@ndra here!) what kind of job are you looking for?

I like jobs.ac.uk and those of the local universities, but then... I tend to go for jobs related to education. Would that help?

What do you want to do/can you do? I work for the health service, so look in the NHS trade journal or the nhs jobs web site. Lots of industries have similar arrangements. If you just want somewhere local then the local paper might be a starting point. There are some generic job search engines, probably using google will get you there, but you'd do much better if you had a specific area in mind.

friends in IT have recommended monster to me, but I haven't used it myself

SenoraParsnip · 17/01/2008 20:16

I'm not looking for a job, I'm advertising one. but I have not done it before - it's weird. It is IT - will look at monster, ta.

memysonandI - que buen nombre! I'm fine thanks. enjoying the rain, the general variety of weather and the derbyshire scenery!

It is not one of my favourites, but that's because it's almost specialised in IT (which is a good point for you but not for me)

LadyMuck · 18/01/2008 22:22

Agency specific to my profession.

madamez · 18/01/2008 22:22

Is the job in question parent-friendly? If so, how about workingmums.com or womenlikeus.co.uk?

MissingMyHeels · 18/01/2008 22:24

I would without a doubt use IT Job Board

OR CW Jobs

MissingMyHeels · 18/01/2008 22:26

Oh and suggest calling on the last working day of the month when all the sales execs will be trying to hit monthly commission and therefore a lot more open to negotiating prices.

Good luck!

p.s - I wouldn't personally use Monster, I work in recruitment and find they don't produce great response ratios and if you are posting a one off add it will become hidden by the companies (like the one I work for) who repost jobs on there daily. Also, they work to keywords processes and have a set number amount, but not too many etc. Never found them massively user friendly.

Shitemum · 18/01/2008 22:27

ah...the general variety of weather...

horsemadgal · 18/01/2008 22:29

I've only ever looked in local paper or Job Centre when searching for jobs.
But then I'm not into IT.

In case this helps:

I always look at www.efinancialcareers.co.uk.
While it's not specifically the part I might look at, it does have a good 'IT in Finance' part.
