How to work out what job/career I would love!

Been in current field (marketing) for 15 years. Can’t see me doing this for another thirty until I retire! But how do you work out your skills, likes, dislikes etc and then work out what other career paths would suit?! I just want to enjoy my job and get paid reasonably well (would not want to earn less than £50k long term) any advice/ideas for how to work it out?! Made particularly difficult by fact I suffer from imposter syndrome and am always worrying about work even though I have always performed well!

Hi! I can relate to your feeling of wanting to change path/career.

Personally I think the only real way to find out what you are suited to is by trying things out. Volunteering for a cause you're interested in, work shadowing someone whose job intrigues you, arranging to speak to someone in a sector that you want to know more about, etc. No huge upfront commitments, just kind of scoping out possibilities.

What do you want your work to centre around? Supporting others? Something technical? Creative?
