I'm rubbish at my job

After a year back at work after time off for a long term illness I have realised I am rubbish at my job. I have no idea what's going on half the time, so much changed whilst I was off.
Going from working full time to part time has made it difficult. No reviews with manager so that I know how I am performing.
Trying to remember how to do stuff from before I was ill is challenging.
I feel so useless 😢

It sounds as though this might be due to lack of support after your long absence. You should have been given time to catch up/train on any changes you've missed, and should have been offered one-to-one support to ease you back into your normal role. Your manager should be having regular reviews with you.

If you can't raise this with your manager, it might be worth speaking to occupational health.

You're not useless - no one can just pick up where they left off after a long absence - it's unrealistic to expect it.

@Antarcticant It feels too late to be asking for support now. I have been back nearly 13 months I should have asked in the first few months back.

I don't think it's too late at all. You weren't supported when you got back so ever since then you have been playing catch-up, trying to get to grips with all the changes you missed and so on.

Someone needs to give you the training and support you should have had when you returned, to set you back on track. And your manager needs to be having reviews with you - as they should with any staff member - otherwise you are groping in the dark.

Try to contact your management staff and ask them to explain to you things you could miss while you were ill. It is not normal that you should feel abandoned at your job, as well as this is not your responsibility that you got ill.

It's never too late to ask for support, I know it will
Be difficult to ask for help after being there some time but I think your managers would appreciate that you told them now before perhaps any irretrievable mistakes are made. Be honest and say things have changed so much you're feeling overwhelmed and need some support. You will be fine x
