Hey all, I'm being really dumb, I have a 4 week notice period, if I give my notice today, when should my last day be? Would it be Friday 6th may, or Friday 13th may?

Thanks!

It probably technically depends on the exact wording of your contract. But the best thing to do regardless is to discuss with your manager. Do you want to go ASAP?

The 6th. That's 4 full weeks from tomorrow.

Actually ignore my comment above, I agree with girlmom21. I can’t think of any way it could be 13th?

My start date at my new job will be Monday 16th may, so it's a case of whether I have a week off to recharge, or just have the weekend and then start a new job the Monday after leaving the previous job. My manager will 100% want me to stay as long as I possibly can, but I want to make sure I'm in abit more control of the situation. My contract says 'you will be required to give, and will receive, whichever is the greater of either four weeks notice or one weeks notice for each year of service' I've been there 4 years

I think I've confused myself as I told my new job I have a 4 week notice period and they set my start date as Monday 16th may, although I did tell them I was going to give notice on Monday 11th but I think now I am going to do it today!

Do it today and have the extra time off before you start your new job.
