How long have you paid into it for?

Which schemes are you in and what's your current pay?

My NHS pension is worth about 20k a year in defined contribution pension terms so I would need a pretty hefty payrise to make that up.

Hi thanks for posting

im 59 and in a similarly position to you.
i have been offered a job as medical PA in the private sector for £10 k more per annum
My current nhs pension is (I think)worth about £8000 per year.
I have to buy a small property to live in and the salary increase would really help with my mortgage application but I don’t really want to give up my nhs pension. The private sector are offering a pension 5% with their added contribution of 10% so not as good as nhs pension but better than nothing!
i have heard that if I leave the nhs and re join before a 5 year period has expired, I can simply continue with my nhs pension contributions. However I have also heard that this only applies if you are still under 60 when you re join the nhs (which I clearly won’t be) Does anyone have any information please? I have contacted the pensions hub but still awaiting a reply.
thank you !
jules

@Joolze123 I think you’ll get a better response if you post your own new thread, good luck!

I am clueless here, but surely if you’ve paid loads of money into a pension it will still pay out on retirement. They can’t just steal it.
