Hi all,

I’m currently a community nurse and I’m considering moving over into the civil service. I’m just wondering if there’s anyone out there who have done the same and what job are you in now?

Thanks in advance for any info id really appreciate it Smile

Not helpful, but a helpful bump and I'm following with interest!
I am a nurse and very nearly applied for a job the other day but got scared and doubted myself and the deadline passed.
What sort of roles are you looking at?

@ATisketATasket I’m literally looking at everything! Haha it’s quite exciting tbh as I’ve only ever worked in the NHS since I was 19 so the thought of doing something completely different would be great!
I’m fed up of nursing now I’d love a change what about you?

Similar, just exploring options. Due to my nursing background I am particularly interested in the ukhsa, but would have to be a remote role based where I live.
It is a completely different way of reading job adverts though. I have a lot of really transferable skills but it is a bit of a shift in understanding what is required.
I am at the top of band 6, so not sure what grade I should be trying for (heo?). I guess the next step is just is maybe apply for jobs of interest and guage whether I get as far as interview?!

Also following with interest, and a fellow community nurse here. I'm only at the stage of being curious about other roles at the moment, rather than actively wanting to make the move. The Civil Service Fast Stream looked interesting though. I kind of like the idea of something which involves health technology. Hopefully someone with more info and experience will be along soon!

Read the success profiles webpage - particulars the behaviours as it will give you a list of things that they are expecting you to cover. They will score you on those things. I always suggest looking at the grade above description too (as they will be more detailed / specific / higher level) as that’s how you can hit higher marks by showing your example is above that level. Lots of help online for civil service recruitment too. There’s been a lot of entry level recruitment recently on the jobs database so keep checking or sign up to an email to alert you when jobs of a certain grade become available. Good luck
