I have an interview for a job I really really want

...and I'm flapping!

It's an internal role, moving from a telephone based role to an admin role and exactly what I've been wanting to do for ages

I have a competency based interview on Friday, any tips or example questions anyone could give me? It's been a few years since my last interview and my mind has gone blank! Blush

If it’s competency based they might well ask questions around “give me an example of a time when…” , to see if you have examples of demonstrating a particular skill or competency. So it’s good to have examples of things like - dealing with a difficult customer, working to a tight deadline, prioritising multiple tasks, solving a problem, giving great customer service . Also have a think about your achievements, and what’s gone well in your current role, to help you think of good examples. A good answer to competency questions uses the STAR technique (=situation, task, action, result) so practice giving examples using that . Set the context, explain what the task was, explain what YOU did , and what the outcome/result was). It’s a good way to structure things in your own head as well, so you keep to the point and don’t waffle ! Good luck !!

Thanks so much 😊 I have 5 competency based questions and have written out answers in the STAR format so I can practise them. I'm looking at the job advert at the list of things they are looking for but I'm struggling to think of many more questions.

I'm struggling to think of more questions they could potentially ask, it's been 2 and a half years since my last interview and my mind seems to have gone blank!

The interview will be with someone who has managed me in my current role before moving on to this team, so I'm hoping this is a plus as they know I'm a good and capable employee.

Now I'm just getting paranoid that maybe they didn't actually like me at all and could just never express it because that would be unprofessional.

Oh, and I had a dream last night that I went to the interview without realising that my top was see through and I was flashing my bra to the world 😳

Good luck! Classic anxiety dream there. Grin
