Hi there, I'm just looking for some advice.
I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant with my first child and I told work right after the New Year when I was 13 weeks.
Before I got pregnant, I was getting constant praises and everyone said I had learnt so much since joining the team. Then I started to really suffer from HG in the first trimester and naturally, started making a few easy mistakes (being so sick and the baby brain having a knock on effect). Work stripped my duties back to the bare minimum to help ease the workload which is greatly appreciated.
However, since my pregnancy has become public knowledge to the whole company, I've been noticing my bosses are keeping an extra close eye on my work and I'm getting pulled up on every single error, even for things like a typo in an email. I know other staff make the same errors but they don't appear to be getting called out for them. It feels a little bit like they are using me as an example to micromanage.
I know that you can't fire someone for being pregnant, but you can for incompetence and I'm scared that they are trying to find reasons to do so.
In addition, as no one has taken maternity leave at my company before (very young staff in their early 20s) they don't seem to have any idea of how to arrange my maternity leave so im still waiting for my boss to get her head around it before I can even book it, and they expect me to make up the time that I'd be out at hospital appointments, even though my antenatal appointments should be allocated paid time off.
Is this in my head or does this sound to anyone like something to be concerned about?
Thanks in advance.
