Has anyone changed career to bookkeeping later in life?

I’m in my 40s, been a nurse over 20 years. Had my first child 4 years ago and my second child in 2020. I’ve decided not to return to nursing and looking to retrain.

I’d be interested in hearing from others if you’ve changed career in your 40s to bookkeeping. How did you find it? Are you glad you retrained?
I’ve seen a couple of courses which I’m currently enquiring about.

@Onaloop, are you a nurse? Have you looked into Bookkeeping courses?
I’ve seen one with Pitmans.

I was hoping someone would have replied with some advice.

Good luck!!!

I trained at 35, I am now 44. I did this qualification in the first instance. I now run my own business with several clients. Good luck!

@girlmeetsboy thank you for your reply, that’s very helpful to know.

May I ask what your background was before you retrained? How did you find the course, straight forward?

I am seriously thinking about getting myself on track for next year.

Many thanks 😊

I ran a Personal Training business before, always enjoyed doing my tax returns, which most people will think odd! Then I worked in a company doing credit control and the FD left so I sort of fell into it. I love it now. The course is great, it teaches you how to create accounts on ledgers and also computerised packages such as Sage etc. Are you good with numbers? 😊
