.....or at CM, do you say goodbye or sneak off while they're occupied with someone/ something else?

Depends- at first (when DS was 12 months) I would sneak off as he would cry if he saw me leaving. Now though (he is 18 months) he is happy to see his friends and goes and gets his breakfast so I give him a kiss (which he ignores) hth

Nooooo ALWAYS say goodbye even if they're occupied, or they'll always think you're abandoning them!

They may get upset but it is part of the learning to detach from you for short periods & trust another adult/s & they do settle very quickly even if howling when you leave the little b's!! I always think we should have a CCTV screen at the end of our drive so they can see 5 minutes after they leave how their LO is having a nice cuddle/playing quite happily

I always say goodbye - although sometimes he ignores this as he's rushed off to get first go at the trains etc. About one day in 50, he will cry when I go to leave, but I still say goodbye and the girls whisk him off to see the fish/ get the toys out.
His first nursery (had to leave as we moved to another area)had a secure webcam so you could log on and see that they were not crying etc.
