Which 3 days to work

Hi.
Working part time currently Monday, Thursday Friday. Really like that 2nd weekend feeling when I finish work on a Monday with having Tuesday & Wednesday off. However, due to pro rata bank holiday rules I use up quite a bit of leave to cover the many Monday's that bank holidays fall on. Been given the option to switch to Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. Like the idea of a 3 day weekend and not using annual leave for the Monday bank holidays but will miss that Tuesday/Wednesday off. Has anyone else made the switch and any viewpoints. No other work pattern available at the moment. Thank you

@MrsLargeEmbodied using the Gov holiday entitlement calculator we get 14 days holiday and 3 days bank holiday in our entitlement. When I changed over from every morning to 2 1/2 days I was told I get 17 days holiday which includes bank holiday. I have only had 2 Friday bank holidays this year, New Year's Day 2021 and Good Friday. My colleague has had Easter Monday, May Day, Spring Bank Holiday, August Bank holiday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day in addition to her 17 days holiday entitlement.

@OnGoldenPond that will put the cat amongst the pigeons as this has been going on since I switched over from every morning to 2 1/2 days per week which is back to September 2019.

There was a cock up with holidays prior to this. I was working every morning and my entitlement was 20 days and 8 days bank holidays but the other girl who I replaced and my current colleague interpreted their half day working on a Wednesday as half day holiday. So if they were off for a fortnight they would say they had 5 days holiday not 6 so including their rostered days off and weekends they would have 18 1/2 days off but only taking 5 days holiday. They did have to pay some back by working without pay. The girl I replaced wasn't happy about having holiday time curtailed and left. That's when I decided I wanted to work 2 1/2 days a week not every morning.

Calculating leave for part-timers can be awkward and where I worked they had the most complicated mathematical formula I'd ever seen.

But minimum statutory holiday is 28 days which can or cannot include Bank Holidays. It's up to the employer. You are entitled to your share of all of them. But you'd be pro rata. When you take leave in week chunks that's not too bad but when you start taking days here and there, it can be more problematic. For example if you work 3 days a week you'd be a 0.6 worker and you'd be entitled to 0.6 of a BH. You can see how that is complicated. But that's not the employees problem, that's the employer's.
