Any practising accountants out there - advice on self employment

I was recently made redundant from a role that I'd done for almost 19 years.

I am a qualified chartered accountant, big 4 trained, but haven't had to use my technical accounting and audit skills in that time due to my role.

How easy is it to 're train' as it were? How do I re-skill to return to practice and is it even possible?

Should I consider setting up my own practice when I haven't prepared a set of accounts for years?

placeholding.

OP - when I was made redundant I found the ICAEW very helpful - they put me through a fantastic career counselling course.
