Not sure when it is going to happen but maybe after christmas.
Will they take into account the redundancy pay?

Don't know about the redundancy- they may do, but g to the citizens advice and they'll know for sure.
Sorry about the news

Yes, you can claim JSA immediately and No, they won't take into account any redundancy pay.

Check to see if it impacts on any tax credits too if you have them. It didn't make a difference when I received my redundancy, but if you're going to be getting enough to pay tax on then its worth checking...

You can claim jobseekers just for you - but wont be able to claim anything for dependents without taking redundancy money into account.

Thankyou for replying.

It wont be much redundancy pay , 4 months based on 16 hours a week.

Joash-Do you mean the tax credits?

Out of interest ,how much is job seekers allowance do you know?

bump

IIRC it was about £58. There are two types of JSA - contributions based and income based.

If you are living with someone who is working ft you will only be entitled to the contributions based JSA which will be for you only and is timelimited to 6 months. Your benefit is based on your NI contributions over the previous two years.

Thankyou

just to add if you are getting a payment in lieu of notice (PILON) you won't get JSA for this period as well (this is often part of the overall redundancy payment)
