Is this acceptable behaviour from a recruitment consultant???

Dh has an interview at 5.30 today. He asked for a later one but they refused. He is a very busy City lawyer and his hours are til 6.30 minimum but of course they are flexible. However something has come up so he called the recruitment bloke at lunchtime to ask if he could put back or reschedule

He got a total earful about how unprofessional this was and how he thought that they wouldn't do it - now do you not think one firm of City lawyers might just understand the pressure that one is under and just agree to re-schedule? This bloke was very aggressive towards dh who is now tempted to blow the whole thing out and inform them why.

lol at fiofio. it's true. many recruitment companies are twatface bastards AND disgusting parasites.

but anyway. in this case, I think the idea of asking to deal with another consultant is a good one. then the rude chap won't get his comission, but your dh still gets the job. win-win.

recruitment consultants aren't called bottom feeders for nothing.

Fio2 you've just made me spit my tea out

Flowery - it must have been the same crowd that sent me my own CV (with identifying details removed) when they were trying to get me to use them, I was recruiting for my own Mat Cover! Actually - it might have been as we seem to be in the same County.

flowerybeanbag · 28/11/2007 19:40

Ah, I was working in Islington at the time so I imagine not callme... at you getting your own cv back, that's hilarious

Are you in Cambs then? [nosey]

TellusMater · 28/11/2007 19:44

The recruitment consultant who sorted Dh's job was called Mr Job (pointedly pronounced biblically, but still surely a case of what New Scientist calls nominal determinism).

Irrelevant I know, but mildly amusing...

crunchie · 28/11/2007 23:22

Ah now I am all upset at being called a 'bottom feeder'

I am recruitment consultant and I believe good at my job. These things you are saying are pure incompetance from people and they are rubbish at their jobs. There are some good ones about (me for instance) who really CARE about our candidates and clients, seriously I really do want to get people the right jobs and I work hard at it.

Some RC's are crap but IMHO there are good ones, and I geniunily believe I am one of those and I know most of my collegues are like me, they would be mortified at all these examples!!

flowerybeanbag · 29/11/2007 09:01

crunchie I am sure you are excellent - there are many good ones, I have had the pleasure of working with some. It's amusing to share stories of incompetence though - I know I have hundreds of stories of incompetent versions of almost every job

callmeovercautious · 29/11/2007 21:27

Flowery - yes I am in Cambs. The fens

crunchie - I have dealt with some fab RC in my time, you may even be one of them!

LOVEMYMUM · 29/11/2007 22:21

Have sat quietly reading thread and as a recovering recruitment consultant I can agree that there are alot of dreadful incompetant RC's out there.

However there is, every now and they a ray of light and they seem to stand out from the rest.

I live in the Fens - not a bad place to live - just a bit flat!

MrsFlora · 29/11/2007 22:41

Anyone that works at high profesional level is very aware that shxt just happens sometimes and meetings have to be rescheduled. i wouldn't take any crap from the bunch of losers!

There so many other recruitment companies out there!
