Can anyone tell me what I will get paid?

I am starting a new job on the 9th August and reading my contract is states the following:

Your salary will be paid to you monthly for the period from the first to the last day of the month.
Your salary will be paid to you monthly by electronic transfer directly into the bank account/s, as nominated by you, on the 15th day of each month after making any necessary statutory deductions.

What I want to know is will I be paid from the 9th - end of the month on the pay day which is the 15th? I dunno, I find this really confusing and I can't really work out why!

Reading that I would say that on the 15th you will be paid your salary covering the 9th through to the last day of the month.

It is based saying that in any full month worked you will be paid for two completed weeks and two up coming weeks.

Thank you.. I was being a bit dim to be fair. In fact now I think about it a bit more I have a feeling that I won't get paid until September 15th anyhow. I supposed it depends when the pay roll cut off is. If it is before the 9th I won't get paid til the month after anyhow. My husband started a new job today and that is the case for him too.

I just had the exact same thing, got paid 15th for 9th to 31st.

Quite nice when you've not been there a week yet!

My work is similar, two weeks in arrears, two weeks in advance. Unfortunately, I suspect based on experience in my workplace, you probably won't get paid until September.

It's possible you will miss the salary run for August and be paid in September - it's tight for payroll timewise.

SpeckledlyHen · 21/07/2021 09:05

@pinkfanman yes I suspect you are correct. Husband is in the same position, he started a new job yesterday and has missed the cut off for the month so both of us are starting new jobs and having to wait to month 2 to get paid.

Sometimes payroll can give you an advance - it's a long time to go without a salary. Congrats on the new job!

SpeckledlyHen · 21/07/2021 11:55

@pinkfanman - yes thank you. We should be ok though thankfully.

I think they will wait to check you have actually started to work on 9th August and if they do this, then you will miss out on the Aug payroll.

Congratulations on the new job!
