Are there any medical writers on here?

I've got two interviews for entry-level medical writer positions and I'm feeling quite nervous!

I had to do writing tests for both so I'm hoping the fact I got invited for interviews is a good sign. I'm just wondering how competitive it is at interview stage?

Congratulations! I’ve been in med comes for over a decade, initially as a MW but now in a leadership role. If you’ve been invited for interview, that’s a great sign. Now they’ll want to know more about you, about your previous writing experience, and your therapy area background. What area of med comms are you interested in/do the companies specialise in? There is a big difference as a MW if you are working in regulatory writing, publications, med ed or marketing.

Sorry to butt on, what does a medical writer do? Someone I sort of know is one and I tried googling it but was none the wiser! Best of luck with your interview.

Thank you for your reply!

Do you know how competitive it is at interview stage? Just trying to know what I'm up against.

I have heard mixed things about entry-level roles. On the one hand, I have heard it's really, really competitive. However, I have also heard that med comms are suffering from a shortage of writers and there is a need for new, entry-level writers? What is your opinion and experience with this?

From my research, I think I would be most interested in regulatory writing and publications. Do you have any particular recommendations for agencies that specialise in these areas?
