are all working from home jobs a con?

Hiya,
Dont know if its just me but Ive looked into a few 'work from home' options and they all require quite a hefty payment up-front before you can start work. Seems a bit of a con.
Im a mum of loulou who is 4 months and dont feel ready to go back to work but could do with the extra cash.
Anyone tried anything or have any advice?

Hi, I work from home, ish. I do an Avon round, which brings in a few pennies, esp this time of year, although weather a bit naff, but walking is good for you! I also do THe Pampered Chef, which does mean going out in the evening (niot every night, I do 1-2 nights a week now DS is a bit older, but did 1-2 nights a month when he was small) which is a £90 fee, but for that you ger nearly £300 of products to start your business, and you earn 20% commission from the parties. It's a good income, and it's allowed me the freedom not to go back to work.. (was an Air Stewardess before)

no I work for the Open University. nice job work from home when I want as long as I put in sufficient hours. It can get hectic when its exam marking time but thats only a few times a year and i get paid well for it.

Hmmm. Im the same..I have yet to find anything decent...and wouldnt dare do an avon round in my area!! (Shame though, cos I would love all the perks!)
What about doing just one day a week? Maybe a sat? Might do you good too...although if you're not ready, you're not ready - I understand that totally.
Im going to enter that competition tht was on BBC radio last week. Its called Five Fab Mums. Dont know the website but Im sure you could google it. They pay you money into your kiddies trust fund account...seems like quite a good thing if you win it. Maybe good for you too?

No they are not all cons i know of 2 very good companys DP works for one and my mum works for another both had to pay out £200 to start off but both made that back in 2 weeks, and both earn a good amout from it.

Oooo I'm thinking about this too - With Pampered Chef, do you have to find hosts for the parties yourself? I am also considering Avon - how do you set up your 'round'?

Bogie, what kind of thing do they do?

My mum is a network marketer promotes heathly living products and natural products to help cure things like excema, IBS, dermititis, arthritis ect and things like deodrants without loads of harmful chemicals in she also team builds for them.
Dp also in network marketing but he has a special rep code that he uses to get people really cheap deals with the top gas and electric company, phone lines, mobile phones with orange cheaper than anywhere else, voice over ip products. but when he has done this he gets paid every bill anyone pays he get paid a percentage by the company for signing them up so even when hedoesnt do anywork for the month he still gets paid, he also team builds.
And all the money dp and my mum make is willable so will go to ds.

Its not really easy sit back watch the money come in BUT if you try hard you can earn a massive amount DPs mate who has been doing what DP does for 4 years earns 20,000 a MONTH!!!!! another one of the guys in his team is on 75,000 a month i though he was lying but he got his bank statments out last time he came round
