NHS Admin Job Offer

I am in process of being made redundant by John Lewis and official last day is 14th of August. Applied for a band 3 admin role with nhs and explained in my application and the interview, that I couldn't start until then. I have now been offered the job and am thrilled but they have said I have to start on the 5th of July and they cannot hold the job.

My issue is John Lewis is fab and I get 6 months pay in Lieu of notice on top of my redundancy when I leave but, I have to work until the 14th of I lose the 6 months pay which is roughly £14,000. I am already taking a £9k cut in salary and can't afford to lose anymore.

I only applied for the job because it said its closing date was the 6th of June and I had heard it usually takes weeks for people to officially start due to CRB checks etc.

Does anyone have any experience - as I can't start on that date but don't want to lose the job.

Get on the admin bank. You work in loads of different departments and a lot of people in the NHS in admin start on the bank.

An ex colleague took a job in the NHS after she was made redundant. She doesn’t mind the work and most of her colleagues are nice but she says its highly pressurised, the working conditions aren’t brilliant filthy toilets and lots of them in the office have caught covid and they are so far behind with the work they haven’t a hope in hell of catching up.

Her start date was delayed pushed back and pushed back again and she also had to pay for all the checks herself. Can you not phone HR and double check with them if you haven’t already done so.

Well done!

In all honesty I think you’ve probably had a lucky escape with that first job (ex-nhs).

@Cornettoninja

Well done!

In all honesty I think you’ve probably had a lucky escape with that first job (ex-nhs).

I think you are right and seemed like it was a bit of a mad office.

Does anyone know what they will ask band 2 admin interview nhs apprenticeship please. My interview is coming up soon and it’s 30 minutes long. How many questions do they ask. Any help is appreciated.

ArranMumma · 10/10/2021 09:38

£14k is too much to lose
