NHS Band 4 Medical Secretary to Med Sec in GP surgery

Has anyone ever gone from being an NHS employed medical secretary (band 4 pay scale) to working as a medical secretary in a GP surgery?
I'm currently NHS med sec and have an interview next week for med sec role at local GP surgery. Is the pay likely to be comparable? The advert says it's "dependent on experience". I've got 5 years experience in the role. I've heard bad stories of med secs outside of the NHS pay scales being offered close to minimum pay. Don't want to waste my time if that's what might be offered.
