Application question: What are the challenges of distance management?

Hello

I'm just applying for a job and one of the areas they want you to cover is to:

Demonstrate an understanding of the challenges of distance management and how this can be managed successfully.

So, any ideas?

So far I have come up with the need for clear communication, trusting your team and having strategies in place to ensure it is clear that procedures etc are followed.

And thats just about it!

Please help! My brain is drawing a blank on this despite knowing that its bloody hard to manage a team from a distance, I just can't seem to vocalise myself!

I was remote managed from US , mythoughts are:-
Harder to form good relationships at a distance - Regular 1:1 essential.

Using different kinds of communication

What kind of distance - how often will you actually see them?
