I’m looking for some advice with regards to my return to work. My daughter was born late November 2020 (3 weeks early) and I have now been on met leave for 3 months. Before starting mat leave, my manager asked me via email how long I thought I would be off for and I said 6 months. I have now changed my mind and would like to take minimum for 9 months off but worried that as I responded via email they may hold me to the 6 month mark and not let me take another 3 months off and give my job to someone else. Is it legally possible for me to change my mind on when I can return if i give them 8 weeks notice or can they demand I go back after 6 months ?
