Hate job. What do I say my reason for leaving is?

Currently in a relatively new post. Stated in June and was going great until a new member of staff came in who would be working along side me. Fast forward to current day and we are going through mediation because he is a horrible person. They belittle me, gaslight me and genuinely have me questioning my ability. It's at the point I'm dreading coming to work as they make my life hell. Nothing is helping. They act all professional to the boss during mediation but when we are alone working they are nasty to me and make me feel so uncomfortable.

Today a job has come up in a diff dept within the same organisation. It's the job I'm doing now just in a slightly different area but I have experience and meet the criteria.

It's asking on the application what my reason for leaving is. I can't say promotion as it's the same job pretty much and same salary.

What the other department does? Can you focus on the scope of the work of the department rather than the role?

@KarmaNoMore it's pretty much the same as I'm doing now, only difference is number of projects they handle opposed to our dept. There's nothing specific to focus on as jobs are almost identical

I recently heard the term "lateral career development" - it basically means moving jobs sideways, not upwards, but gives it more gravitas. Perhaps say that, or that you want to broaden your experience within the organisation. Try to use wording that makes it sound a professional decision and not just "your department sounds more interesting than my department".

@Plexie that sounds good!

I have an interest in working on a wider breadth of projects such as those x department oversees.
