Please can you share your experiences of learning Prince2 online and which company you used

I have been working in Junior admin support roles for years and finally I am going to take the plunge and do Prince2 online

If anyone has done this online please can you share how long it took ( The centres take 5 days for both the foundation and practitioner) but I’m wondering how much work would the participants have done before hand. Online does it take weeks/months?

There are so many sites advertising the course so can anyone recommend a decent one

I did Prince2 years ago as a course over 5 days. It consisted of:

• Pre read the book (20+ hours of reading)

5 day Course

• 3 days re-reading sections of the book and highlighting, and homework to study the book again!
• day 4 - practise exam, a bit of talking, then foundation multiple choice exam (everyone passed)
• day 5 - in the morning talk about practitioner style written questions, see some examples, do a practise paper, then exam (all but 1 passed)

Prince 2 is mostly about learning their terminology and buzz words. You get most of that from that book, and if you studied the book yourself and did a couple of practise exams you could probably go straight to the exam without an "online" course. I don't see why an online course would need to take months.

I completed the Prince2 foundation course this year through Balance Global. They had a good deal through Groupon and it actually included both the course material and the exam. It was a good course, as it was styled like a seminar where the lecturer explains each topic in depth. Plus, there are quizzes at the end of each topic. Also, you get two mock exams included at the end of the course before taking the actual exam. The exam is through PeopleCert and was online via an online proctor. You find out if you pass straight away.

I then completed the Practitioner course through Knowledge Academy as Balance Global could not give me a good deal. This had a similar format, with lots of quizzes and two mock exams. The exam was through an online proctor, which was easy to set up and I found out my results after I completed the exam but had to wait a few weeks for my PDF certificate to come through my email.

I completed both courses within three months and completed it with enough time before the deadlines (Balance Global and Knowledge Academy specified that you had to complete each course and exam within 6 months). I work full-time and studied during the evenings and had plenty of time to go back to topics which were more tricky to understand than others.

I also purchased the latest 2017 Prince 2 manual which is the only book you can use during the Practitioner exam, it had more detailed information on topics like the business case and escalation reports etc. I managed to get a good deal via Amazon, as it is around £85 for a new copy but I purchased one which was second hand but in a very good condition.

It’s outdated practice now, IMO would be better to do something like APM fundamentals or practitioner.

I'm just doing the Foundation through Training ByteSize. Wouldn't recommend it tbh. It's 'OK' but just 'OK' iyswim. I've had to supplement with youtube videos and the smaller handbook (not the full on text book)
