micro managing boss wants a chat tomorrow about 'my concerns'

Help.. I have a micro managing boss, I am very experienced in my field and if I'm honest working at a more junior level than I should due to flexibility/childcare reasons. My boss is micromanaging me and it's doing my head in... she keeps getting involved in the minutiae of my work for example I ask her a question about something and she then starts giving me detailed instructions about another aspect of that piece of work that i was doing fine and have done before and have no need for direction! Its infuriating as I've just worked out how to do something and am getting on with implementing it and then she comes along with a different approach and I have to change tack.

Its really got to me in the past few days and I've asked her (politely) if it's ok for me to deal with something on my own/ I can use my discretion to do something as I don't feel I need a lot of direction. This was on email as we don't work in the same office and a real time chat was not an option at the time

She has now asked for a chat as she wants to 'understand my concerns'. I've heard that micro managers are notoriously difficult to change, but it seems like she does want to understand where I am coming from.

How do I approach this? Honesty the best policy? I don't want her to feel criticized and get defensive. I don't think she really understands why I don't want to be micro managed all the time. Maybe she thinks she is being helpful or something?
