Made to work weekends after cutting hours so I didn’t have to

I was wondering if anyone could help please, two years ago I reduced my hours by 12 hours a month so I could not work weekendsas my children do a lot of activities and I was finding it hard juggling things on weekends. My hours were given to someone else who is now leaving, my boss told me yesterday that I will now be required to do weekend hours as my contract is in hours not fixed days. I have worked my hours for 2 years and taken a financial hit to do this, can I be forced to?

If you've done those hours consistently for two years, those are now your contractual hours, regardless of the fact that is not specified in your contract. Did you not get anything in writing at the time you reduced the hours?

I have been through this.

I had set days and times set out in my contract but the company were still legally allowed to change my contract. I went through a consultation period and was offered to either sign a new contract with the change in hours or leave.
