I want to be a Sonographer where to start?

Sorry It posted way before I was finished, I was going to post :
I really want to become a Sonographer I worked for a private company previously and loved it, I haven't had support from my DH but Ive spent long enough supporting him and his career, it is my turn but I have no idea where to start.
I would love to be a Sonographer, private or within NHS but I am just unsure where I would need to start to start trainning, I have looked online and it says there is 2 courses I need to take.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction of where to get started please?

Thank you ! So looks like access course, then radiography before getting to a sonography course.

I've no advice, but just want to say you must be a very strong individual to want to be a Sonographer. After having two missed miscarriages, I always thought how sad it would be to have to tell people such awful news all day long knowing your words will be the first thing that shatters their lives forever

Good on you if you can do it! You should definitely go for it if you feel compelled to do it

I totally get what your saying, I've had 2 miscarriages and one was due to a car accident and 1 was missed miscarriage but the 1st one the way I was dealt with was appalling no compassion they were disgusting, 2nd time was amazing they were fantastic in a terrible situation.
I've worked in private and had to be there when a person is told and I always thought when you care it changes it doesn't make it better but makes the journey easier and would love to help others if that makes sense.

My friend is a sonographer. She did a degree in Radiography then a funded masters in Sonography. She doesn't just do babies obvs, she does pelvic scans, abdomen, testicle, liver, kidney etc

@FatimaLovesBread I dont want to be rude, how old was your friend when they trained??

She went straight from college so will have started at 18 and maybe 23 once fully qualified

Ultrasound 'scanners' aren't just about pregnancies and babies.

Ultrasound helps to scan soft tissues and are often useful as first investigations into hernias, abdominal growths, aortic aneurysms and cysts.

The emotional toll it can take being so close to the patient as you uncover life limiting, terminal or tragic conditions can't be underestimated.

Be prepared, OP. It's a tough field to get into and a tough field.
